Canada Tour | Day 2 | Pocatello, Idaho to Whitefish, Montana
Getting Closer to Canada!
After a great first day of riding, we continued on to make our way towards the Great White North. We started off the day in the beautiful town of Pocatello, also known as the Gateway to the Northwest. After a quick hotel breakfast at the local Best Western, we hit the road I15 for our first stretch of the day.
Despite being on the interstate, it was still an incredible scenic ride that got better by the mile. for lunch, we got off the interstate and transitioned to Montana State Route 1 and cruised into the town of Anaconda to find some good 'ol local eats. We hadn't looked up anything beforehand, so Gaylin signaled to a driver on the road and shouted for a food recommendation and with a swift "follow me".. we did just that and ended up at Donivan's Restaurant which was quite the spot. With historic pictures, unique architecture, and some spot-on food, it ended up being one of our favorite stops of the trip so far. We even got to chat with the owner for a bit and hear some great stories of how the place came to be.
After getting back on the road, we noticed a storm front coming in and heard thunder off in the distance, so we pulled over in Drummond, Montana just 60 miles out of Anaconda to throw on some rain gear and push through the rain. Just as it tends to go, by the time we were back on the road, the rain had pretty much subsided, but we kept the gear on and made the 180 mile push to Whitefish. The last leg f the ride was a great one, with vibrant stretches of farmland, streams running alongside the road, and sunny skies to clear the mind. We even hit a few construction patches with dirt and gravel along the way, but that's just a part of the adventure.
We pulled into the Kandahar Lodge just before 8pm and had plenty of sunlight left as it doesn't get dark until 10pm that time of year! Most of the local restaurants nearby were about to close, so we cruised back down the mountain into town and found some good eats at Logan's Bar & Grill.
On day 3, we'd be making our way across the border, so we called it an early-ish night and got some rest before a big day ahead!
We hope y'all are enjoying the adventure so far! Stay tuned for more..
See you down the road!
