Riding to the BIGGEST tree in the world! Sequoia National Park

11 Jun 2025

Riding through the Sequoias!

It's day 3 of our motorcycle trip exploring the Southern Sierras and we rode into Sequoia National Park to see the worlds LARGEST tree!

Established in 1890 as the second national park in the United States, Sequoia National Park attracts over 1.2 million visitors annually who come to explore its towering giant sequoias - including the famous General Sherman Tree (the largest tree in the world by volume) - hike scenic alpine trails, and discover natural wonders like Crystal Cave and Mount Whitney

The day started in Three Rivers, California where we spent the night after a great day of riding from Kernville the day prior. We made a quick breakfast at the AirBnB before cruising right down toe road into the park where we would get to explore not only some great windy roads, but some incredible lookouts and scenery before finding our way to various trails that lead to some pretty mind-blowing giant sequoias!

At the General Sherman trail, we ran into three groups of people who are fans of the channel and we got to chat and hang out for a bit which is always a fulfilling experience! Shoutout to Russ who wanted to spend his 10th birthday riding on the back of his dad's bike and hanging with the 2Lane boys for a bit!

While speeds are limited throughout the park, there wasn't very much traffic and it made for a nice pace to take a look around throughout the park and soak in all of the beauty!

After a fun afternoon in the park, we began our journey home, stopping at the Pinehurst Lodge after some truly phenomenal riding on the windy and scenic SR245 which is a road we can't wait to ride again! We just happened to pull off at the lodge to see what they had going on and it ended up exceeding all expectations. From the small town feel to the service and the food, we're looking forward to making it a destination down the road once they finish the construction of some campsites and yurts!

Jay, the manager, introduced himself when we came in and pulled up a chair, sharing stories and experiences of his time in L.A. and his new life up in the mountains and it was a refreshing change of pace that we welcome anytime. That's what you get on the 2Lanes! We got some killer quesadillas, burgers, and sandwiches, and it blew your regular bar food out of the water.

All good times must come to an end, so we got back on the bikes and hit the road down to the valley floor, finding ourselves on some narrow farm roads and open plains along the way. And not without stopping at an old gas station for some pics!

Once we hit the highway, we made the mission back home in good time and started looking forward to our next adventure!

Stay tuned for the rest of the journey into the giant sequoias and more!
