Scenic Group Ride with New Friends!

On to another exciting day of our journey to Yellowstone National Park, and having met some awesome people the day before at the Bell Brawl, we were excited to be riding with some of them! The plan for the day was to meet up with Gaylin's brother in law and father in law as well as some new friends in Payson, Utah and take the Nebo Loop Scenic Byway out to Nephi before making our way to Salt Lake City with plenty more scenic riding on the journey. It was great to get back out on the road and cover some distance, with tons of new experiences to be had along the way!
The Nebo Loop is a 35 mile paved road paralleling the Mt. Nebo Wilderness Area on the Uinta National Forest, with great views in every direction. It was awesome to be riding through such vibrant surroundings throughout the mountains, with views of deep canyons, a thick tree line, and even some snow on the caps of the mountains here and there! Mount Nebo itself sits at about 12,000 feet, and with tons of pullouts and scenic overlooks along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to overlook the vast landscape.
Between June and September, the area is known to have a wide range of wild flowers, so we definitely passed through at the right time! With the red and green foliage on the trees, distant views of orange and yellow wild flowers up in the hills, bright blue skies, and the rumble of the motors, there was no better place to be riding the 2Lanes!
To top that, being able to ride with family and new friends was an awesome experience. Running through the curves, learning each others riding style, and catching a smile on everyones face as we climbed up into the mountains was surely something to remember. Sometimes it can be hard to coordinate things like this as we're always on the move with changing plans at every corner, but we were glad to have been able to share this experience with some good dudes!
The loop spit us out on State Route 132, which we rode into Nephi to fill up the tanks and split off from part of the group. Ryan and his girlfriend Amanda headed another direction to go ride the Utah Lake Loop, and the rest of us were headed to Park City to go meet up with one of our original supporters, Adam aka the Rocky Mountain Rider!
We hopped on the 15 for a short while, then got off in Orem, which would take us to the 189 through Provo Canyon! Throughout the canyon, there are tunnels, waterfalls, views right alongside the river and reservoir, and towering mountains in every direction. We got off in Park City, and too State Route 248 into town, meeting Adam at Squatters Roadhouse Grill to cool off and grab some lunch!
They had some tasty looking food on the menu, so it was hard to choose, but we all got something to hit the spot! There were some tacos, steak salad, pulled pork and rueben sandwiches, and some good 'ol burgers! It was cool to introduce the other guys in the group to each other, and see them hang out and enjoy the good times! We may come from different walks of life, but having a shared passion for motorcycles and the places they can bring you, always makes meeting new people with these values a great experience!
After a great meal, we got the motors runnin' and made our way to State Route 65 aka East Canyon, which would lead us to Emigration Canyon, another section of road with some fun curves and vibrant scenery! It was pretty toasty out, in the high 90's and low 100's, but we were enjoying the ride, having good conversation and bumping our favorite tunes. Shortly after the end of the canyon, we pulled into some shade to get a quick break from the heat and say our goodbyes, then got on our way to Salt Lake City!
Growing up in the area, Gaylin was familiar with the area, and it was cool getting a little hometown tour before checking into our hotel for the night, The Little America Hotel, which ended up being a pretty cool stay!
We parked the bikes at the hotel, got cleaned up, then walked into town to find some dinner, and ended up at the Market Street Oyster Bar for some bacon wrapped bison steaks! This was one of Gaylin's favorite spots growing up, so it was only right we gave it a shot, and it did not disappoint! Ending the day with a great meal in good company is always a good time, and being able to share our favorite experiences from the day and plan our travels for the days ahead is something we always look forward to.
We headed back to the hotel with a quick stop for some drinks along the way, then got some rest before picking up the wives the next day! The journey to Yellowstone was only beginning, and we were excited for the good times ahead!
