Maiden Voyage on the 2025 Ultra - 2Lanes from L.A. to Kernville
First trip on the new bike!
Day 1, we met up at the shop and covered some distance on the freeway before getting on the 2Lanes, but luckily there were a ton of 2Lanes to come in the following days. We had our buddy Mike along for the ride on his Whiskey Fire Road Glide, so we ended up having 3 Whiskey Fires along with Josh's Atlas Metallic Silver!
We decided to stop for lunch at a spot we discovered a few years back and we were glad to see them open! The Schoolhouse Grill in Twin Oaks, CA is a family owned restaurant in an old schoolhouse constructed in 1935 and has some killer sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and more! We got to sit down and chat with the owner last time we were there and it is always awesome to see small family businesses thriving.
The ride from Twin Oaks to Kernville is scenic the entire way and we took our time cruising through the meadows and mountains before pulling into the Pinecone Inn where we'd stay the night before continuing on our journey the following day. After a couple gloomy weeks, it was nice to have a hot sunny day in the high 80's on our ride into town!
We stopped at our favorite joint for dinner in Kernville, Ewings on the Kern and got some steaks and pot pies before checking out some local bars and calling it a night. Kernville is one of those nostalgic small towns that hasn't changed a whole lot over the years and always makes for a good time to get away from all of the noise.
Stay tuned for the rest of the journey into the giant sequoias and more!
